As a 3D VFX and Digital Composition artist, I’m always looking for ways to enhance my projects and bring my creative vision to life. In my latest project for the VSFX 752 course, we were tasked with creating a mood match for a scene from the movie Kill Bill. Using techniques such as 3D color, lighting, and rendering, we aimed to recreate the mood and atmosphere of the original scene.
In this article, I’ll be introducing you to my projects: Kill Bill Mood Match and Kill Bill Mood Alteration. These two projects were created as part of my VSFX 752 course and both aim to enhance the mood and atmosphere of the original scene from Kill Bill.
Kill Bill Mood Match
For the Kill Bill Mood Match project, our task was to recreate the scene from the movie Kill Bill and match its mood and atmosphere as closely as possible. We achieved this by using techniques such as 3D color, lighting, and rendering. One of the challenges we faced was fixing the perspective of the camera as it panned down the street. To achieve this, we had to recreate the entire scene in 3D and track the camera movement. Once we had the camera movement, we could then match the lighting and color to the original scene.
Kill Bill Mood Alteration
In the Kill Bill Mood Alteration project, we took a different approach. Instead of matching the mood and atmosphere of the original scene, we were tasked with altering it. We used a 360 camera to capture the scene and then used inspirational images to change the temperature of the scene and experiment with different lighting. This project allowed us to explore different moods and atmospheres and see how they could be applied to the same scene.
