As a compositor on the Netflix film Uglies (2024), I played a key role in crafting the film’s distinctive visual world. Collaborating with an incredible cast that includes Joey King, Chase Stokes, Brianne Tju, and Keith Powers, I worked closely with the visual effects team to ensure that the film’s futuristic and dystopian elements were seamlessly integrated into the narrative. My contributions were essential in helping realize the film’s unique aesthetic, balancing technical precision with creative storytelling.

One of my primary responsibilities was executing vanity effects, armor shining and glowing effects, as well as body distortion effects—all of which were essential to enhancing the hyper-stylized, high-tech world of Uglies. These effects played a crucial role in visually supporting the story’s exploration of beauty, identity, and societal transformation.

Another critical aspect of my work involved managing blue and green screen effects to place characters within the stylized, high-tech society depicted in the film. This required a keen eye for matching lighting, depth, and movement to maintain visual continuity and believability.

Additionally, I performed beauty work to enhance the film’s polished look, including digital retouching and subtle enhancements that supported the film’s commentary on superficial perfection. My work contributed to a visually rich experience that reinforced the film’s themes and resonated with audiences.
