As a compositor on Karate Kid: Legends (2025), I contributed significantly to the film’s dynamic martial arts sequences and immersive visual storytelling. Collaborating with a talented cast and creative VFX team, I helped shape the visual tone of the film by seamlessly blending practical action with digital enhancements that respected the legacy of the Karate Kid franchise while introducing a fresh cinematic style.
Karate Kid: Legends follows a new generation of fighters as they navigate personal growth, discipline, and honor through the lens of martial arts. Set in both familiar and new global locations, the film bridges past and present, bringing back iconic elements while introducing new rivalries and mentorship dynamics in a high-stakes competitive world.
My primary responsibilities included DMP (digital matte painting) set extensions and projection work, which helped expand and enhance the film’s environments beyond what was captured in-camera. This was particularly important for scenes set in stylized training grounds and large-scale tournament venues. I also handled blue screen removal to integrate live-action performances into these extended environments seamlessly.
Additionally, I contributed to the realism and physical intensity of the fight sequences by using Liquid Gen elements to digitally simulate sweat and enhance the physicality of the characters during key combat scenes. These subtle yet impactful details helped amplify the emotional and physical stakes of each fight, adding depth and believability to the performances.
My work supported the visual continuity and heightened realism of the film, helping to deliver a polished, high-energy viewing experience that honored the spirit of the original films while pushing the visual boundaries of the franchise forward.
